Alpe d'Huez ski resort is in the heart of the French Alps with most slopes facing south, thus sometimes referred to as 'L'ile au Soleil' or Island of the Sun also in part due to the many days sunshine Alpe d'Huez experiences through the summer months. Contrary to popular beleif, Alpe d'Huez offers perfect skiing and snowboarding facilities for beginners to seasoned skiiers boasting one of the longest runs in Europe (La Serenne) which is 16KM long to numerous ski parks for snowboarders. In addition, Alpe d'Huez is a great place for freeriders and back country skiers as well as featuring night time skiing, perfect for families or groups with differing skiing abilities.
