You could not get more of a chocolate box Alpine resort than Obergurgl. Situated high in the spectacular Otz Valley, it is Austria's highest village resulting in a snow record second to none and an extremely long season.
The village has a slopesside position meaning the lifts directly from the village itself so skiing directly back to most of the accommodation is very straight-forward. There are two other villages that make up this wonderful area - Hochgurgl and Untergurgl. The skiing is excellent for all levels of skier and with the recent lift link between the Obergurgl and Hochgurgl areas, the is a huge range both piste and off-piste skiing to choose from.
There is a wide variety of traditional Alpine apres-ski ranging from lively apres ski bars to excellent restaurants and cafes. Activities include ice skating, curling and night-skiing (held weekly). All in all, this resort is what one really comes to expect of a small Alpine traditional village, and having been recently voted Europeas most snow-sure resort, it really does provide all round entertainment for a week on the slopes.
